| About the Publisher
Publisher & CEO Josh Gross launched the Beverly Hills Weekly in 1999. The newspaper covers the City of Beverly Hills, the Beverly Hills Unified School District, and the surrounding communities of Beverlywood and Los Angeles . The Beverly Hills Weekly is adjudicated as a newspaper of general circulation for the City of Beverly Hills and the County of Los Angeles. A Beverly Hills native, Josh is a graduate of Beverly Hills High School (the school that inspired the "Beverly Hills 90210" television series). He also holds a B.A. degree in history from UCLA , and a J.D. degree from Loyola Law School. Before starting law school, Josh spent over four years working on his first book, The Last Word: Final Scenes from Favorite Motion Pictures , which was published in December, 1992 by Vintage Books/Random House. Josh completed a national press tour promoting the project, which included coverage in USA Today and CNN . Josh later served as a contributing editor to Must See Movies, published by Random House in 1994. Politics has also played a major part in Josh’s career. Josh has consulted and/or worked on numerous City Council, State Legislature, and Congressional races in California, including the campaigns of former Beverly Hills Mayor/Attorney Robert K. Tanenbaum, Berkeley City Councilmember Carla Woodworth, and U.S. Congressmember Brad Sherman (D-California) . But for Josh, the print and broadcast media is a family affair. Josh’s grandfather, Jack O. Gross, founded KFMB Channel 8, the first television station in San Diego in 1949. Josh’s uncle, the late Laurence Gross, served for many years as the entertainment critic on KNSD, the NBC television affiliate in San Diego. Josh is president of the Beverly Hills High School Alumni Association, which represents over 20,000 Beverly High graduates living around the world.
